The Habitare Collection is a special exhibition jointly produced by the Habitare Fair organisation and Design Museum that is on show every second year at the Habitare Fair in Helsinki. As indicated by its title it presents the Habitare design collection. This year, the exhibits have been selected by, among others, design legend Alberto Alessi, a friend of the Habitare Fair. The exhibition will present a special array of both this year’s design selections and the best works from the past 10 years of the collection.
The Habitare Collection is a special exhibition of design jointly produced by the Habitare organisation and Design Museum and displayed biennially at the Habitare Fair in Helsinki. Curated by a jury of experts, it features objects and works of design. The selected items represent different areas of design from conceptual thinking to furniture and industrial design. The concepts selected by the jury underline the significance of the human senses in the design and use of the built environment. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Habitare Collection, with Habitare and Design Museum inviting the public to enjoy an impressive array of classics and new works from the collection.
The Habitare Collection was on show for the first time at the Habitare Fair in 2009. Additions are made to it every second year in connection with the Habitare event, and it is gradually becoming an important part of the collections of Design Museum. In 2009, twenty products were selected for the collection, in 2011 there were 24 additions, 33 in 2013, and 15 products in 2017.
