Design Museum will become a cultural sponsor for children born in Helsinki in 2023. All children born in or after 2020 who reside in Helsinki are assigned a cultural institution as their sponsor. The children are invited to at least two events annually by their cultural sponsors. The events are designed to support the child’s developmental stages and promote the well-being of the whole family. The sponsors are determined by the child’s year of birth. The sponsorship continues until the child starts school. The events are free-of-charge for the families.
In 2023, the Cultural Kids programme features the theme of Cultural Heritage, and a number of museums and other institutions of cultural heritage located in Helsinki will become involved. The sponsors of children born in 2023 include, in addition to the Design Museum, the Helsinki City Museum, Helsinki University Museum, National Museum of Finland, Museum of Finnish Architecture and Association of Cultural Heritage Education of Finland.
The Culture Kids programme is managed by the City of Helsinki’s Culture and Leisure Division and receives support from the Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation.
