Following the declaration of a state of emergency by the Finnish Government on 16 March, all of Design Museum’s venues, including Design Museum Arabia, Design Museum Iittala and Design Museum Nuutajärvi, has been closed to the public beginning on Tuesday 17 March owing to the COVID-19 coronavirus epidemic. The safety of our visitors and preventing the spread of the virus are of paramount importance for us.
On Tuesday 5 May 2020, the Finnish Government led by PM Sanna Marin announced that coronavirus restrictions will be gradually lifted starting from 1 June. Design Museum will be opened to the public on the first of June. Our new exhibitions, Travel as a Tool and Other Words, are ready and we eagerly expect visitors to come and be inspired by them. During the coming summer, we will pay special attention to the safety of our visitors and we are currently preparing related measures at the museum. We will soon provide more information on the new arrangements.
Although our physical venues are closed, we will continue to bring design to our audiences through our electronic channels. You can get to know the items of our collections and their history from home on these pages and through this link https://collection.designmuseum.fi/fi/
We also share fascinating design-related content with text and images on the channels of social media.
We are looking forward to seeing you again before long at Design Museum.
