Q&A Design Club Open Call 2021

Applications period
16 August 2021 – 30 September 2021
The applications shall be submitted no later than 23:59 (11:59 p.m.) (EET) on the 30th of September 2021 in pdf format to the address opencall@designmuseum.fi Design Club and Design Museum will select the exhibition in October 2021 and the successful applicant will be notified in person.
What?
An international call for exhibition concepts, which has been made possible by Design Club, Design Museum’s corporate community.
Who is it for?
The call is for Finnish and international designers, designer teams and companies. Teams and firms of all sizes are entitled to participate.
What is being sought?
A proposal within the theme of knowlege. It can be an exhibition, installation or intervention and it can consist of several works or just one piece.
What is being offered?
The use of Design Museum’s Gallery from 9 September 2022 to 15 January 2023, production funding to the amount of €10,000 (VAT 0%) and assistance in keeping with the museum’s curatorial, exhibition mounting and information practices.
(Basic level mounting materials according to the museum’s standard practice, graphic design, curatorial assistance, staff for mounting and information services in keeping with museum practice, the exhibition opening, exhibition venues, supervision, and photographic documentation.)
Other questions:
What costs can be included in the financial assistance for production?
Costs for travel, transport, equipment, materials, and work.
50% of the production funding at the most can be used for salaries. At least half of the funding (5 000€) must be used for other production costs.
How will the production grant be paid?
The sum will be paid in two instalments, first when the agreement on cooperation is signed and upon invoicing after the project has been completed.
Can member firms or companies Design Club participate?
No.
Can additional funding be sought from other sources?
Applicants may use additional funding for the projects, and this is also recommended. The applicants can also make a proposal for a partner for the materials.
Can applicants submit more than one entry?
No.
Can the entry be a project that has been presented previously?
Yes, but not presented in Finland.
Can the museum reserve the right not to select anyone?
Yes.
