What is Design Club Open Call all about?
Open Call is looking for a spatial installation for Gallery at Design Museum. The international application period starts at 12th December 2017. The Exhibition chosen through an international open call for applications will open in Design Museum’s Gallery as part of the programme of Helsinki Design Week in September 2018.
Open Call is a three-year initiative seeking and impressive content and developing new forms of business support for creative work. Open Call is carried out in association with the museum’s Design Club corporate and business network. Design Club helps companies to engage in renewal and to create new business opportunities with the aid of design.
The purpose of this years´open call is to find an installation applying sound and corporeality along with visuality.
The exhibition concept chosen through the process will be given the use of Design Museum’s Gallery space, technical and work assistance and, among other things, production funding amounting to €10,000.
The open call is for Finnish and international designers, design teams and companies.
Application instructions
Applicants are expected to submit a proposal for an installation that can appeal to viewers by way of impressive visual properties or, alongside or instead of them, by employing other senses such as hearing and touch. The entry must be linked to design, employing its forms of expression, materials, working methods or discourse.
The entry shall consist of the following:
Project description (max. A4)
Image attachments, sketches or moodboards (max. 5 pictures/files)
Budget for the project (max. A4)
Project schedule (max. A4)
The applications shall be submitted no later than 23:59 (11:59 p.m.) (EET) on the 18th of January 2018 in pdf format to the address opencall@designmuseum.fi. Design Club and Design Museum will select the exhibition by 31 January 2018 and the successful application will be notified in person.

The Gallery
The Gallery is on the basement level of Design Museum Helsinki and has a floor area of 231 square metres.
