The Kaj Franck Design Prize pays tribute to the spirit of the work of designer Kaj Franck (1911–1989). Franck’s principles involved the idea of democratic and functional design, which is of high quality, overcomes practical challenges and creates new opportunities for companies making use of design expertise. A special merit is if the recipient of the prize also brings beauty, joy, and better quality of life to the everyday.
The Kaj Franck Design Prize, established in 1992, is one of the most esteemed design prizes in Finland. Work by the recipient of the prize of 2017 is on show in the exhibition.
