Exhibits from the Design Museum collections in a virtual reality experience!

Dive into a virtual experience with exhibits from Design Museum’s collections and interact with them in the Pop up VR museum.

Most of us are familiar with Finnish design items that are a part of our everyday lives. In the virtual exhibition, you can listen or read people’s memories of items like the Jopo bike or Moomin mug. If you want, you can also share your stories on the items in the collection, comment those shared by others or even paint how you feel on an item.

The Pop up VR museum is a prototype and we are testing it. It was designed by the Media Lab of Aalto University in cooperation with the Design Museum as a part of the European SPICE research project. The experimental VR museum project explores cultural heritage from the viewpoints of co-design and design.

The Pop up VR museum will travel in Finnish cities in the winter of 2023. The visitors will be able to learn about the Design Museum’s collections in a completely new way, and they will be invited to participate in the co-design project of the digital application.
